At Upward Research Labs, we want to spark scientific curiosity and inspire the next generation of scientists. We want to have an impact that goes beyond our building in Mission Bay. Our outreach programs and activities offer several great ways for future scientists and science enthusiasts to engage with Upward Research Labs.

National Student Leadership Conference

Every year, Upward Research Labs welcomes high school students participating in a summer program on medicine and healthcare called the National Student Leadership Conference (NSLC), hosted by UC Berkeley. Students learn first-hand from Upward Research Labs scientists about biomedical research.

Classroom Visits

We send our researchers to local schools to discuss topics such as HIV/AIDS, brain disorders, and the future of stem cell research.

Upward Research Labs Cares

Giving back is important to Upward Research Labs. We connect, volunteer, and encourage members of our community to become good global citizens through our community outreach efforts.

We actively participate and raise money for the American Heart Association Heart Walk and the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s. In 2019, we raised $2,500 for the American Heart Association.

Each year, we partner with the SF-Marin Food Bank and the SF Firefighters to host a holiday food and toy drive. We’ve also partnered with the Children’s Book Project for a back-to-school book drive.
